Demonstration against PM Modi was costly

Prime Minister Narendra Modi was addressing a program organized at Kolkata’s Netaji Indoor Stadium on Sunday to mark 150 years of the Kolkata Port Trust. The Congress was then holding the protest outside the Netaji indoor stadium.

In the meantime, with the play cards in hand, Congress workers protested against the revised Citizenship Act and the National Register of Citizens and raised slogans of Modi Go Back. Police have detained several activists. On the other hand, in Dharmatalla, some students’ federation protested against PM Modi’s visit.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi, who arrived in Kolkata on Saturday, faced opposition amid protests against the National Revised Act (CAA) and the National Register of Citizens (NRC) in West Bengal.

Demonstrators belonging to the Trinamool Congress and CPI (M) student unit staged demonstrations in various parts of the city against PM Modi’s scheduled visit to the town. During this, protesters show black flags chanting Modi Go Back.

According to the information, activists of the Student Federation of India (SFI), the CPI (M) student unit, Jadavpur University, Goalpark, College Street, Hundreds of posters gathered near Hathibagan and Esplanade.

On which slogans like ‘Students against Fascism’ were written. SFI leader Debraj Debnath, present here, said, “We oppose the Prime Minister’s visit. Those behind the attacks by saffron forces at the discrimination-ridden CAA, NRC, and Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU).

He said that we are against the visit of Modi, Amit Shah and other BJP leaders, who are dividing the people of Bengal. Meanwhile, students performing in the esplanade also burnt effigies of PM and shouted slogans of freedom from fascism.

On the other hand, Trinamool’s student unit Trinamool Students Council (TMCP), sitting on an indefinite dharna on Rani Rasmani Road against the CAA and NRC, shouted slogans against PM Modi.

On occasion, a student organization leader said that efforts made to divide the country based on religion. The purpose of the CAA is to get a particular community out of here, which we firmly oppose.

Another leader who attended the rally said that under no circumstances will this law be allowed to be implemented in the state. Apart from this, activists of Youth Congress and Left-backed Democratic Youth Federation of India (DYFI) shouted slogans against Modi outside the airport.
