Mr Singh was in Maoist custody for five days. He went missing after a deadly April 2 ambush by Maoists of the Sukma-Bijapur region. Chhattisgarh IG confirmed the news of his release.
The Maoists left Rakeshwar Singh nearby Terram police station. The jawan is about to join the battalion in a while.
Before releasing him, the Maoists made some demands before the government. They said he was safe and would be released soon.
On Wednesday, a photo of Rakeshwar in their custody was released to the media. The photograph showed Singh, 35, sitting alone in what appeared to be a hut.
