The trials of the COVID vaccine manufacturing are going in full pace and many companies have attained positive results in the end phase of the trials. Even in our country, many pharma companies are leading in vaccine manufacturing. Covaxin, which is already being taken by Hyderabad-based BharatBiotech, is yielding encouraging results too. It is learned that the Serum Institute of Pune in association with Oxford University is developing the Astrazenca vaccine. Clinical trials of this vaccine are in full swing. Recently, however, a volunteer made sensational allegations against the vaccine. The man alleged that he contracted a neurological disease after being vaccinated.
This 40-year-old man from Chennai said that he suffered and experienced neurological as well as psychological problems after he was vaccinated with Oxford University’s Astrazenca vaccine on October 1st. In the legal notice, he demanded Rs.5crore compensation and immediate suspension of the testing and the manufacturing of the vaccine.
The DGCI and institutional ethics committee has already started to investigate the claim after this claim stormed the social media. However, the serum company responded to all these claims. The serum organization clarified that the vaccine trial had nothing to do with the volunteer’s health condition. The company alleges that they are being blamed deliberately. The company has warned that it will impose defamation suit of Rs 100 crore on the volunteer who spreads false propaganda.
The Covishield vaccine, developed by Oxford-AstraZeneca, is currently in the final stages of testing. Serum Institute chief Adhar Poonawala said it was possible to apply for emergency use within another two weeks. In this context, Prime Minister Narendra Modi also visited the Serum Institute on Saturday to know the details of the launch of the vaccine. The organization strictly denied the volunteer’s allegations.
