Recently, in a press meet, the Union Health Ministry announced that India will begin rolling out the coronavirus vaccine by January 13.
“We are prepared to roll out Covid-19 vaccines within 10 days of granting emergency use authorization date, based on dry run feedback,” said Health Secretary Rajesh Bhushan at a press conference.
In India, already two vaccines received approval for emergency use on January 3.
Oxford-AstraZeneca’s Covishield manufactured by Serum Institute of India and Bharat Biotech’s Covaxin received approvals from the Drug Controller General of India for restricted emergency use.
In this context, the Union Health Minister Harsha Vardhan announced that two crore frontline workers and one crore healthcare workers will get this vaccine for free.
