Amid an unprecedented surge in Covid-19 cases in India, Google CEO Sundar Pichai and his Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella today assured help to the country. Needless to say, the country grapples with a devastating coronavirus crisis resulting in a shortage of beds, oxygen and medical supplies in Hyderabad.
After witnessing the dire need of India, support is coming in from many ends. Now, Sundar Pichai in his tweet said that his company will contribute Rs 135 crore funding to UNICEF and the non-profit Give India for medical supplies, helping high-risk communities, and contributions to help spread critical information about Covid.
With the virus crisis getting out of hands in India, Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella today said that his company will continue to use its resources, and technology to aid relief efforts and support the acquisition of critical oxygen concentration devices.
This help from the two big tech giants comes at a time when the country registered over 3.5 lakh fresh Covid cases and recorded over 2,800 deaths because of COVID-19.
I am heartbroken by the current situation in India. I’m grateful the U.S. government is mobilizing to help. Microsoft will continue to use its voice, resources, and technology to aid relief efforts, and support the purchase of critical oxygen concentration devices.
