It’s well known that earlier Spice jet said that its employees will get a pay cut of up to 30%, as grounding operations in a bid to put a check over unprecedented financial crisis triggered by coronavirus pandemic.
Infact this lockdown has dramatically effected all other airlines, including SpiceJet and many airlines had to cut the payouts in the month of March.
The airline has, nonetheless, ensured that its employees in the lowest pay grades will remain unchanged by the decision. Previously it was a 10-30% pay cuts only till March, but recently SpiceJet shocks it’s airline pilots with a bold decision. They announced that they would not be paying wages in April and May unlike what they assured previously.
The company says that these decisions are in the best interest for all the staff at SpiceJet as it aims to rise above the crisis with zero retrenchment.
Under current conditions, pilots operating flight carriers will only be paid based on working hours. “At the moment, only 16% of all aircraft are operating, and 20% of pilots are on duty,” said SpiceJet Chief Operating Officer Gurucharan Arora.
