In this context, PM SVANidhi Scheme (Pradhan Mantri Street Vendor’s Atmanirbhar Nidhi Yojana) scheme was kickstarted on June 1 this year to lend a helping hand to poor street vendors to make their livelihood better.
On Saturday PM Modi announced publicly on twitter, ”I will communicate with my brothers and sisters from Uttar Pradesh who sell goods on the street through video conferencing at 10.30 am tomorrow. You will get a chance to know about how the Prime Minister Swanidhi Yojana has given new strength to our comrades”(Sic).
PM Modi is likely to interact with the beneficiaries, additional chief secretary, information, Navneet Sehgal during this exclusive virtual conference.
Under PM SVANidhi scheme, street vendors can acquire working capital of up to Rs 10,000 at subsidised costs. The scheme is envisioned with a motto to empower small business men from marginalised sections and promoting the administration’s plan of framing a self-reliant India.
Small finance banks, micro finance institutions etc received more than 24 lakh applications been under the scheme, out of which more than 12 lakh have been sanctioned and nearly 5.35 lakh loans disbursed till date.
