A month ago the Supreme Court suspended the plea of liquor baron Vijay Mallya, looking for a stay on the proceedings initiated by the Enforcement Directorate (ED) to proclaim him a fugitive economic offender and seize his assets summing up to Rs 9,000 crores.
Amidst corona virus Pandemic, embattled liquor baron Vijay Mallya, on Tuesday asked Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman earnestly to consider his repeated “offer to repay 100 per cent” of the loan borrowed by now defunct Kingfisher Airlines.
An alleged fraud and money laundering charges of estimated Rs 9000 crores is on the 63 year old besieged, who fled from India in March 2016. He said companies have effectively shut operations and manufacturing succeeded by the lockdown in India.
Mallya seeks for government’s help at the time of a lockdown situation due to Covid-19 and shares his hesitation in sending employees home and paying the idle cost.
“I have made repeated offers to pay 100 per cent of the amount borrowed by KFA to the Banks. Neither are Banks willing to take money and neither is the ED willing to release their attachments which they did at the behest of the Banks. I wish the FM would listen in this time of crisis,” Mallya said in a consecutive tweets.
Mallya has appealed in the UK High Court about his extradition from the country.
