COVID-19: Door to door testing to begin soon?

With speculations doing the rounds that a blanket of lockdown reimposition is on the cards, the government cleared the air that no such thing will happen. However, alerted every state to implement stricter safety measures to battle the virus.

In this view, a senior government official disclosed to media that the PM could approach the CMs to initiate door to door screening of individuals living in containment zones and be stricter in execution of social distancing measures and utilization of face masks. The Center has gotten an input that things have turned better in certain states. However, Narendra Modi is likewise expected to send directives to specific states to increase their testing numbers before the end of June to have the option to identify patients early and decrease fatality.

Currently, the covid-19 cases have kept rising in states like Maharastra, Tamil Nadu, Delhi, Gujarat and Telangana. In Telangana, Hyderabad, which is most effected is going to have more stricter measures as per recent announcement by CM KCR. According to the reports, the activities mandated in containment zones include perimeter control, active search for causes through house-to-house surveillance, contract tracing, testing protocol and clinical management of active cases. In a recent report it’s learnt that Telangana government would test 50000 people for Covid-19 in ten days after an order was given from the high court to amp up testing.

States will have the liberty to impose stricter measures if required. Currently, Punjab has opted for a stricter lockdown on weekends and Rajasthan decided to shut its borders this week, reported the official. Consecutive meetings are scheduled on June 16 and 17 in two batches with the worst-affected states allocated for second day.
