Much to the shock, Congress leader Jairam Ramesh said both the Telugu states- Andhra Pradesh and Telangana will reunite in the future and Congress will make it happen.
Jairam Ramesh’s statement has acquired significance among the political circles, as he was the one who drafted the bill for bifurcating AP into two states. Though there were severe criticisms from all the sides, he was one among those few who supported the bifurcation.
Speaking about the reunification of the Telugu states, Jairam Ramesh said that Germany in the past has reunited after 50 years and even Korea is planning to do the same. He said that even Telugu states will reunite, if not in TRS regime, but in another government in Telangana. He stressed that Congress party will reunite both the Telugu states.
Congress, which tried to reap the benefits out of Telangana, granted it as a separate state, just four months before the election. But shockingly, none of the local Congress leaders endorsed the bifurcation and instead went against it.
Utilizing the opportunity, KCR jumped into action and was able to form the TRS government with a massive majority in the state. The national party was restricted to a limited number of seats in the state and as expected, it completely lost its base in AP.

It seems, Congress is now regretting its decision and is so planning to reunite the states. If it really does so, then it may have to face the heat from Telangana this time. Even in AP, as YSRCP got a huge mandate and the parties like TDP itself are finding it tough to protect its base, Congress may not show much impact in AP.
So the result may not be any different, even after the reunification or instead it may turn worse, with the national party losing its base in both the Telugu states completely.
