Comedian Raju Srivastava passes away

Popular comedian Raju Srivastava passed away today at the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) in New Delhi. He was 58.

The ace stand-up comedian was admitted to AIIMS after he suffered a heart attack on August 10. He breathed his last at 10.20 am, after 41 days of hospitalisation. Despite the best efforts by the doctors, Raju Srivastava could not be saved.

Born on 25th December 1963 in Uttar Pradesh, Srivastava was in the entertainment industry since the 1980s. He rose to fame with “The Great Indian Laughter Challenge” reality stand-up comedy show in 2005. He also appeared in Hindi films such as “Maine Pyar Kiya”, “Baazigar”, “Bombay to Goa” (remake) and “Aamdani Atthani Kharcha Rupaiya”.

Srivastava was also the chairman of the Film Development Council Uttar Pradesh.
