Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy was to tour Tirupati, ahead of the Tirupati parliamentary by-elections, and talk to the people of Tirupati, at a gathering. However, the CM chose to cancel the trip, and wrote a letter to the people of Tirupati, instead.
In his letter, Jagan stated that he has decided not to go to Tirupati, as the second wave of Coronavirus has started to spread rapidly in the state. He said that 4 out of 11 members that passed away in the previous 24 hours, due to coronavirus, belong to Chittoor and Nellore districts. He also said that the Nellore district has recorded as many as 292 cases in a single day and that even Chittoor is recording a lot of cases.
Jagan said that he is canceling his trip as a dutiful CM, who doesn’t want anyone to contract the virus because they will have attended his public meeting. He asked all the people of Tirupati to be safe and asked them to refer to the letter he wrote a few days ago, with the details of the welfare programs that his government is carrying out in the state. Jagan also asked the people of Tirupati to show YSRCP candidate Gurumoorthy the same kind of support that they are showing Jagan and the party, and to vote for Gurumoorthy in the by-elections.
