During the election campaign, YS Jagan has announced to give Rs. 3000 as pension to the old people and he also included the same in his party manifesto too. But there was no such clarity in manifesto that the pension scheme will be implemented in installment-wise.
After swearing-in as the new Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh today, Jagan has signed on the pension scheme firstly and said that it would come into implementation from this June and Rs. 2250 will be paid to the old people.
This was in fact considered as a shock to all the people at the venue, who were eager to listen to Jagan in the position of a Chief Minister. Jagan however, said that he would raise Rs. 250 every year, implying that the promised Rs. 3000 will be applied only after three years.
So, going with this, in the five-year-term of Jagan as Chief Minister, the Rs. 3000 pension will be offered to the old people, for not more than two years. It clearly indicates the double standards of the new Chief Minister. But at the same time, a few opine that Jagan has decided to hike pensions in installments, considering the low budget of the state.
If the opposition parties highlight the point by explaining the public in detail, then it would surely be a first embarrassment to the newly formed government.
Especially, TDP has more rights to go against Jagan’s decision on pensions, as the YSRCP Chief had earlier went against TDP, when Naidu proposed to waive farmer loans in installment-wise.
