Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy on Friday wrote a letter to Union Minister Smriti Irani, seeking her support in the approval of the Disha Bill.
The AP CM, in his letter, sought support from the Central Minister to get a green signal for the Disha Act from the Union Ministry of Home Affairs.
In order to speed up the investigation and trial in cases of sexual offences against women and children, the Andhra Pradesh government had passed two Bill — the Andhra Pradesh Disha (Special Courts for Specified Offences against Women and Children) Bill, 2020 and the Andhra Pradesh Disha – Criminal Law (Andhra Pradesh Amendment) Bill, 2019.
The Bill aims to complete the investigation within 7 days and the trial within 14 days.
Meanwhile, CM Jagan on Friday conducted a review on the ‘Disha’ project at his camp office in Tadepalli. The meeting was attended by Home Minister Sucharita, DGP Gautam Sawang and senior officials.
