Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy on Monday laid the foundation stone for the construction of 14 new medical colleges in Andhra Pradesh. To provide better healthcare to citizens, the CM laid the foundation stone for the colleges from the Thadepalli camp office through a virtual event.
The new colleges are coming up at Vizianagaram, Anakapalle, Rajamahendravaram, Palakollu, Amalapuram, Eluru, Machilipatnam, Bapatla, Markapuram, Piduguralla, Madanapalli, Penukonda, Adoni and Nandyal. The construction of the colleges at Paderu and Pulivendula has begun.
Speaking on the occasion, CM Jagan said, “We are setting up a teaching medical college within each parliament and nursing colleges affiliated to the medical colleges. We are setting up 16 new medical colleges across the state.”
The CM revealed that the construction of new medical colleges is planned to be completed within three years.
”We are spending about Rs 8,000 crore for the construction of medical colleges. We are setting up medical colleges with the aim of providing better medical care to the poor,” he further said.
”We are also setting up 500-bed hospitals along with medical colleges. We are undertaking the construction of medical colleges with state-of-the-art facilities. We are changing the face of government institutions day by day,” YS Jagan added.
