As part of Vande Bharat Mission, an Air India express flight was arranged from Dubai To Calicut to repatriate stranded Indian citizens. On Friday, The Boeing 737 aircraft overshot Runway no 10 at Kozhikode airport and slipped into a 35-feet deep valley before tearing up into two pieces. Many celebs from the film fraternity viz., Allu Arjun, Mahesh Babu, Shahrukh Khan, Esha Gupta, Sanjay Dutt among others shared their deepest condolences and prayers to the victims of the plane.
Union Civil Aviation Minister Hardeep Singh Puri stated in the wee hours on Friday that the Aircraft Accident Investigation Bureau (AIIB) will conduct a formal enquiry about the situation that caused Air India Express plane mishap. He grieved at the incident and also ensured that all efforts will be made to assist the injured passengers.
The Union civil aviation Minister has now reached Kozhikode at 12pm through an emergency flight to ascertain the situation along with the junior external affairs minister MOs Muralidharan. Reportedly it was known that Kozhikode is a table top airport that has a runway on top of the hill, which could pose challenging conditions in landing.
PM Modi too anguished about the air crash incident and shared his deep condolences to lost lives and wished for a speedy recovery of the injured ones.
