Chandrababu: Amaravati cannot be touched

When Chandrababu Naidu became the Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh in 2014, following the division of the state into Telangana and Andhra Pradesh, he chose Amaravati as the capital of the state, due to its geographical location – in the center of the state – where it is accessible to everyone – and due to the possibilities, it gives to the people of the state, due to the availability of a large number of lands. The TDP government negotiated and convinced the farmers of Amaravati to give up their lands in the rare so that a world-class capital could be built there. On that promise, lands were given up by the farmers, who hopes to see a major difference in their lives.

Upon the formation of the YSRCP government in 2019, the hopes and dreams of the farmers of Amaravati, and the entire future of the state seemed to have been trashed, with Chief Minister Jagan Mohan Reddy saying that Amaravati would no longer be the sole capital of Andhra Pradesh, and put forth his 3 capitals plan, against which the farmers of Amravati have been fighting continuously. Despite that, and the orders of the High Court of AP, the YSRCP government seems to be bent very firmly on making the 3 capitals a reality.

Speaking about the same at a press meet recently, Chandrababu Naidu said that Amaravati was proposed as the capital of AP seven years ago today, on October 22nd, and expressed confidence in Amaravati remaining the sole capital of AP. He said that the capital was inaugurated by PM Modi himself, and said that Amaravati cannot be touched, no matter what.
