It is known that the Centre is facing a lot of heat from anti-BJP trends on Twitter over which the government asked the microblogging platform to remove more than 1,000 accounts related to the farmers’ protest. However, Twitter refused to block accounts on farmers’ protests.
Amid Centre’s face-off with Twitter, a push has been started by many to an Atmanirbhar social media app. Now, the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY) and other government departments have verified handles on Koo.
Union Minister for Electronics, IT, and Communications Ravi Shankar Prasad on Thursday heaped praises on India-made analogue ‘Koo’ in the Rajya Sabha.
Meanwhile, a French hacker Elliot Alderson has claimed that Koo is leaking personal data of its users, including email, dob, name, marital status, gender. He posted screenshots on Twitter as proof regarding this.
