The Central government has banned YS Vijayamma Charitable Trust, named after Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy’s mother Vijayamma.
The Centre has banned the trust, allegedly for violating the FCRA (Foreign Contribution Regulation Act) norms and flouting foreign funding laws. The trust registration has been cancelled under section 14 of the FCRA, 2010. When the Centre raised questions on Foreign Funds, the trust failed to file affidavit on time. So the Central government took the harsh decision.
In fact, it is not only Vijayamma trust, but several other educational institutions and churches across Hyderabad and Secunderabad have been identified that they have violated the FCRA norms. The registrations of all such institutions have been cancelled by the Union government.
