Narendra Modi backs Naidu, jolts Jagan!

It seems, TDP Chief Chandrababu Naidu has recorded his first victory over Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy.

Right after inducting 25 ministers into his cabinet, Jagan had to face a jolt from the Centre. In Naidu’s regime, Jagan, as an opposition leader, went against the state government, blaming it for the alleged misuse of solar power and wind power by involving in some agreements. After becoming CM, Jagan tried to cancel all such old agreements (PPAs) that were made in Naidu’s regime.

But responding to the reports, the Ministry of New and Renewable Energy wrote a letter to Chief Secretary LV Subrahmanyam saying that revising PPAs will shake the confidence of the investors and will affect the future bids and investment in the state and the country. The Ministry has stated that the projects are signed under due procedures and transparent bidding processes.

Once a contractual agreement is signed, it cannot be revisited unless there is a specific provision to do so in the agreement or a case of conspiracy and undue gains are proved, the ministry further added.

This is now being considered as a first jolt to the newly formed government in AP. After jointly contesting in the 2014 elections and forming the governments, TDP and BJP maintained the similar friendship for four years. So the BJP, which reformed the government will obviously not admit any fault, it committed along with TDP earlier. How come Jagan missed this simple logic and went against TDP is a million dollar question now.

BJP who later broke up with TDP completely and was also said to be instrumental in bringing down its government in the state, maintained a secret friendship with YSRCP for the purpose. But the same BJP, had to act in favor of TDP, in the raised issue, which is now awakening the TDP circles. So will Jagan no more review any ex-government works that were interlinked with the Centre? Will he find a new way to target TDP? Let’s see.
