The BJP leaders of Andhra Pradesh have been saying time and again that the Central Government would step in at the right time and reinstate Amaravati as the Capital of Andhra Pradesh. After several speculations, the Central Government filed an affidavit in the High Court, stating that the Center has no role to play in selecting the capital of a state and that the State Government has the sole right to do that.
The Central Government has now filed yet another affidavit in the High Court, stating that it is willing to help the State Government in all ways. The center had already allotted a total of Rs. 1500 Crores for the development of Amaravati and Prime Minister Narendra Modi had himself laid the foundation of the city.
Furthermore, the Center stated that there was no mention of a single capital only, in the AP Reorganisation act, 2014, and said that it was completely up to the state to decide the capital, and the number of capitals.
On the other hand, BJP AP leader, Ram Madhav had previously lashed out at Jagan, and said that Jagan would go down in history as the only Chief Minister who advocated 3 Capitals. With the opinions of BJP AP leaders and the BJP Center not going hand in hand, it still remains a mystery on what the AP leaders will now have to say after the Center’s 2nd affidavit.
