The Central Bureau of Investigation has filed an FIR against leading chocolate company ‘Cadbury India Ltd’ on allegations of corruption and fraud in process of obtaining licenses for its factory in Himachal Pradesh in 2009-10.
The CBI on Wednesday raided 10 places belonging to the organization in Haryana and Himachal Pradesh. The company is now known as Mondelez Foods Private Limited.
The agency has registered allegations of corruption, misrepresentation of facts and tampering with records in order to avail area-based tax benefits.
The CBI has alleged that Cadbury conspired with central excise officials between 2009-11 to get tax benefits of Rs 241 crore for its new unit in Himachal Pradesh, which makes 5-star James Chocolate.
A case has been registered against the then Cadbury India vice president (finance and compliance) Vikram Arora, its directors Rajesh Garg and Phillips, along with two central excise officials Nirmal Singh and Jaspreet Kaur and 10 others.
