Casting director-producer Seher Aly Latif, known for her work in films like “The Lunchbox” and “Durgamati”, breathed her last on Monday due to cardiac arrest, her associate and director Neeraj Udhwani confirmed.
Neeraj further said that there was some infection in her body that caused renal failure. Latif was hospitalised last weekend. Since then she was on antibiotics and had been recuperating. But on June 7th she suffered a cardiac arrest and suddenly passed away.
Latif has her credits as a casting director for her extensive work for projects like mathematician Srinivasa Ramanujan’s biopic “The Man Who Knew Infinity”, starring Dev Patel; filmmaker Gurinder Chadha’s period flick “Viceroy’s House” and Bhumi Pednekar’s “Durgamati”.
Also the co-founder of independent production company Mutant Films, Seher Aly produced the Netflix series “Bhaag Beanie Bhaag”, featuring Swara Bhasker, and “Maska”, an OTT film that featured Manisha Koirala. Udhwani, who directed “Maska”, said Seher was admitted at Lilavati Hospital eight days ago due to kidney dysfunction. She was in her early 40’s.
