The anti-evasion team of Secunderabad GST Commissionerate held a city man named Rambabu Pula for generating fake invoices and evading GST.
As per reports, Rambabu created non-existent companies and issued invoices without providing goods or services and benefited input tax fraudulently. He drifted half a dozen firms and passed on the Input Tax Credit (ITC) based on bogus invoices.
The investigation exposed that the firms ‘Gopal Trade Impex, Maruthi Enterprises, Siri Enterprises, Lasya Enterprises, Abhigna Enterprises and SV Enterprises’ dispensed fake GST invoices/e-waybills and helped in the passing of inappropriate ITC to Rs 48.99 crore, of which the officials had already collected Rs 2.31 crore, Commissioner MRR Reddy said.
During the investigation, Rambabu admitted his involvement in defrauding the government by dodging tax. The GST officials produced him before the Economic Offences court on Tuesday. The court remanded him to judicial custody up to February 16.
