Ponniyin Selvan 2, the sequel to Tamil-language hit Ponniyin Selvan released in theaters on the 28th of April. The film released in competition with the Telugu media mainstream film, Agent, which features Akhil Akkineni.
Coming to the box office prospects, Ponniyin Selvan 2 has had a rather decent start to its theatrical run in the Telugu states – Andhra Pradesh and Telangana.
The film has collected a theatrical share of Rs 1.4 crores in the Telugu states on its opening day. The film has grossed Rs 2.8 crores in total here.
The break even mark is at Rs 10 crores so there’s still a long way to go for the film to attain the hit status at the box office. A lot will depend on its collections over the weekend here.
In Tamil Nadu, the film collected a shade under Rs 14.60 crores shares. The India wide gross is around Rs 26 crores.
