Ahead of the Assembly election in Bengal, the BJP is gearing for a tough battle aiming to attain over 200 seats in the state. CM Mamata Banerjee announced the candidates while the saffron party has not fielded a CM face yet.
However, popular actor Mithun Chakraborty is scheduled to share the stage with Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday at Brigade Parade Ground, Kolkata. It is not clear that he is joining the party or not yet.
Sources add that top BJP leaders have been in touch with Chakraborty to urge him to join BJP. Recently in February, Chakraborty had met RSS chief Mohan Bhagwat in Mumbai, but the actor declared they did not discuss politics.
We know Bengal is set to go to elections in 8 phases – March 27, April 1, April 6, April 10, April 17, April 22, April 26 and April 29 with results to be declared on May 2.
