A poaching case was filed against Ramachandra Bharati alias Satish Sharma, Simhayaji, and Nandakumar a few weeks ago, after they allegedly tried to buy TRS MLAs by offering them lucrative deals. The three were then arrested by the Cyberabad police, and cases were filed against them, which are currently being heard in the Telangana High Court.
On Tuesday, the Telangana HC rejected the BJP’s please to hand over the case to the CBI, and made the Special Investigation Team (SIT) look into the case-independent. The single judge-headed bench directed the SIT headed by Hyderabad Police Commissioner C. V. Anand to only report the proceedings in the case to the HC and not to anyone else in the state, not even to the media.
A report has been asked to be submitted by the SIT on November 29th, on the progress of its investigation. On the other hand, the accused were booked under various sections of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) and the Prevention of Corruption Act. On November 3, at a press conference, Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao had even released evidence in the case including video recordings of the conversation between the accused and the MLAs. It is now to be seen what will happen.
