The notification for the ZPTC and MPTC elections was released yesterday by State Elections Commissioner of Andhra Pradesh, Nilam Sawhney. She took over as the SEC of AP after Nimmagadda Ramesh Kumar‘s term came to an end on March 31st.
The Parishad elections had to suddenly be stopped last year, even after the release of the notification, due to the rapid spreading of Coronavirus. The elections will now be taken forward from where they were stopped last year.
On the other hand, members of the Bharatiya Janata Party have filed a petition against these Parishad elections, in the High Court. They have filed a House Motion Petition, which will come for investigation in some time. Apart from that, three individuals have filed a petition in the HC, seeking permission to contest in the Parishad elections.
The Parishad election polls are expected to take place on April 8th, while re-elections are expected to be conducted wherever necessary on April 9th. The counting of votes will take place on April 10th.
