Bhimaa is a 2024 Indian Telugu-language action drama film written and directed by A. Harsha. The film has Gopichand, Priya Bhavani Shankar & Malavika Sharma playing the lead roles while Nassar, Naresh, Poorna, Vennela Kishore, Rohini, Raghu Babu, Mukesh Tiwari, Srinivas Rao, Chamak Chandra, Venkatesh, Cheluvaraj, Roller Raghu, Niharika, Sarayu & others are seen in key supporting roles. The music is composed by Ravi Basrur and the film is produced by KK. Radhamohan under Sri Sathya Sai Arts banner.

Story:

Bhimaa (Gopichand) is a powerful cop who falls in love with a school teacher, Vidya (Malvika Sharma). Bhimaa is after a criminal named Bhavani (Mukesh Tiwari), who exerts his control over Mahendragiri. Also, a lot of mysterious incidents take place at the historical Shiva temple in Mahendragiri. Bhimaa comes to Mahendragiri to find the truth behind the mystery. Will he succeed? Needs to be seen in the film.

What about on-screen performances?

Gopichand cake walks in a role that is tailor-made for him. He shines well in the massy cop role and is decent in the other variation he had to offer which comes in the second half.

Malvika Sharma is the typical commercial film heroine who comes in for a couple of scenes and songs. She looks too gorgeous in her teacher role and she does well in her limited part.

The same goes for Priya Bhavani Shankar too. She too looked good with her acting in her small bits but her role doesn’t add any weightage to the plot.

Mukesh Tiwari who plays the main antagonist is not up to the mark. His get-up is disappointing and looks odd on screen.

Naresh, Vennela Kishore, Saptagiri, Rohini, Raghu Babu, Chamak Chandra, and Roller Raghu fail to bring in laughs in their roles. It is mainly coz of the poor writing.

Nassar is pretty ordinary in his key role while Srinivas Rao, Venkatesh, Cheluvaraj, Niharika, Sarayu & others are okay.

What about off-screen talents?

The story by A. Harsha is bland and his screenplay is very routine. There is nothing interesting in the whole setup or the characterizations. The comedy, the love track, the villain angle, and the elevation scenes are all outdated to the core and never blend in the right way to bring out a decent mass entertainer.

Director A. Harsha does a decent job with his presentation but it is his writing that is a big letdown in Bhimaa. He tried to incorporate a fantasy element in this mass-action drama which did not work as expected. But the way he showcased Gopichand in a massy avatar deserves credit.

The Telugu dialogues Ajju Mahakali are just about fine. The massy lines work well but the comedy lines are mediocre.

The cinematography by Swami J Gowda is first-rate. His camera work gives the required scale the film needed.

The songs by Ravi Basrur are forgettable and his background score is too loud. It is high time that he needs to come out of the KGF mode and try something fresh with his sound.

The edit by Thammiraju is fine but a few scenes could have been trimmed a bit and the artwork by Ramana Vanka & J.V is impressive.

The production values by Sri Sathya Sai Arts are good.

What’s Hot?

* Gopichand’s Mass Avatar
* Camera Work
* Climax Portions

What’s Not?

* Routine Story & Uninteresting Treatment
* Ridiculous Fantasy Angle
* Over The Top Action Scenes
* Too Loud Background Score
* Poorly Written Characterizations
* Outdated Comedy & Love Tracks
* Unnecesary Gore Scenes

Verdict: Bhimaa is an utterly outdated film that bores us completely with the way it is treated on screen with some poorly written scenes. The mass angle also never works in favour of the film as almost every scene looks like we have seen it already. Can try it only if you like mindless action films!!
