Ammonium Nitrate which is the main reason behind the Beirut blasts is now creating shivers among the people in the world. Common people who doesn’t know the power of Ammonium Nitrate got stunned seeing the visuals. Majority of the countries started checking if they have Ammonium Nitrate stored in their respective regions.
It seems that India had 697 tonnes of Ammonium Nitrate 20 kms away from Chennai. It was imported from South Korea by an Indian businessman for his fertilizers business. In 2015, Indian Government seized the entire load due to some restrictions and stored in 20kms away from the city.
Over the time, 697 tonnes of Ammonium Nitrate came down to 690 tonnes and the Government auctioned the load. A Hyderabad based company bought the load for their business and the transportation is on progress. Government is making sure that enough precautions will be taken in handling the load.
