The Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) on Monday lodged an affidavit in the Bombay High Court claiming that both actress Rhea Chakraborty and her brother Showik were linked with a larger drug ring and hence section 27A (punishment for financing illicit traffic and harbouring offenders) of NDPS Act, 1985 was undisputedly applicable to them.
Agency made this statement subsequent to the reverse petition claiming that the section was not applicable in their case.
The 18-page affidavit put forth by NCB’s zonal director Sameer Wankhede reads, “There is sufficient material to show that the present applicant (Rhea Chakraborty) is involved in financing the illicit trafficking of drugs and dealing in it. Even after being aware of the fact that Sushant Singh Rajput consumed drugs, the present applicant harboured him. She also stored drugs in her residence and allowed Sushant to consume it.”
Reportedly, a plentitude evidence was retrieved by the officials Apart from that there are clear evidences that they not only consumed but sold illicit drugs too, which falls under section 27 A as mentioned in the affidavit.
The NCB has also proved that both were active members of the drug syndicate in connection with VIPs’ and drug suppliers and hence rejected bail.
