Heavy rains have lashed China’s Henan province. The country suffered huge floods as it recorded heavy rain in the last 1000 years. Many areas in the province were submerged. Authorities say at least 12 people have been killed so far in the floods. Another lakh people were evacuated to safer areas.

Henan Province is a venue for many business activities, industries and cultural events. It is also home to China’s largest iPhone manufacturing plant. The state has been receiving torrential rains since last Saturday. Zhengda, the provincial capital known as the ‘iPhone City’, received 457.5 mm of rain in a single day on Tuesday. An average of 640.8 mm of rainfall has been recorded here since Saturday, officials said. According to meteorological officials, this is the first time in the last 1000 years that such a large amount of rainfall has been recorded.
As per reports, cars that are supposed to be on the roads are floating like boats on the water. Already many vehicles have been washed away in the floods. Numerous reservoirs across Henan are expected to overflow. Yehetan Dam, west of Zhengha, seems to be collapsing at any moment.
Bus and train services were suspended. More than 250 flights were cancelled due to an uncertain situation.
