AP High Court’s outgoing Judge’s scathing comments against Jagan

The Jagan government and the Judiciary have not seen eye to eye ever since the YSRCP came to power last year.

On every matter, they have been at war with each other, with the government regularly trying to somehow work their way around the judiciary, but ultimately failing to do so.

The relationship between teh Andhra Pradesh High Court and the Andhra Pradesh government is especially troubled, with the HC blocking almost every decision that the government has taken – after the general public filed petitions against these decisions.

Now, High Court Justice Rakesh Kumar has made a few scathing remarks against Jagan, just before his retirement on Thursday.

Rakesh Kumar has had his own share of problems with the government, and these are a few aspects that he spoke about, while making his remarks against the Chief Minister.

Initially, Rakesh Kumar expressed his deep dissatisfaction with the transfer of High Court Chief Justice JK Maheshwari, and then went into discussing the most recent issue with respect to the case filed by Mission Build AP Special Officer Praveen Kumar.

Rakesh Kumar highly condemned the way in which Praveen Kumar dealt with the case, and the way he was trying to save himself and others with respect to the sale and auctioning of government lands in the state.

At the same time, Rakesh Kumar even addressed Jagan with his jail number, when the AP CM was at the Chanchalguda Jail (Khaidi No. 6093).

Rakesh Kumar heavily criticised Jagan’s letter to the Chief Justice of India, which was sent to the CJI in October. This letter had upset the entire judicial system, and several members expressed their discernment towards the letter way back when it was sent.

The letter continued criticism against Supreme Court sitting judge NV Ramana, and HC Justice JK Maheshwari. Rakesh Kumar clarified that the transfer of JK Maheshwari has nothing to do with Jagan’s letter, as is being circulated currently.

Rakesh Kumar said that the transfer of JK Maheshwari would greatly affect the cases pertaining to Amaravati, as the cases would have to be taken up from scratch again, by a new bench.

He said that it would take time to set up a new bench, and when it is set up, there are chances that the hearings may not take place regularly, and the chances of the hearings not taking place at all are even higher.

Furthermore, Rakesh Kumar criticised the Jagan government for wanting to abolish the Legislative Council just because it did not approve the 3 Capitals bill, and even ciritices the government’s trial in removing the SEC from office as he did not abide by what the YSRCP government wanted.

He questioned the inaction of the Police department, with respect to the insults against the judiciary by several people on social media.
