Andhra Pradesh Pollution Control Board (APPCB) has recently issued closure orders to Amararaja Batteries for violating the regulations. As a result, the power supply to the Amararaja industries was halted. The family members of TDP MP Galla Jayadev, who owns the company, have recently approached the high court. The High Court, which heard the petition today, issued directions suspending the Pollution Control Board’s orders.
Amararaja, owned by the Galla Jayadev family, has several battery manufacturing plants in the Chittoor district. However, the APPCB feels that pollution control measures have not been followed in the Amararaja industries. It was in this order it issued closure orders. The owners of the firm have revealed that they have been following all the environmental regulations from inception.
