AP government warned by HC over Coronavirus

While a majority of India‘s state governments have taken up some sort of precautions against the rapid spreading of Coronavirus in the second wave, including the state of Telangana, the government of Andhra Pradesh hasn’t taken any significant step so far, in trying to curb the spread of the virus.

The High Court of Andhra Pradesh has today questioned the Andhra Pradesh government on what steps it took to control the spread of Coronavirus in the state. It also criticized and asked the government why it failed to file a counter affidavit to the public interest litigation (PIL) filed by Thota Suresh Babu last September.

The HC also asked the government to submit a record of the number of cases, tests, results, availability of beds, medicines, and other aspects, pertaining to the second wave of Coronavirus. It asked the government about the actions that have been taken against private hospitals that violated orders.

It was informed by Lawyer Narra Srinivas, representing a petitioner, to the High Court, that remdesivir was being diverted to black markets illegally, which is causing a lot of problems in treating those infected by Coronavirus.

On the other hand, the HC warned the government that strict actions would be taken if the government fails to respond to the HC’s orders by Tuesday at the latest.
