AP government not interested in stepping back

The central government itself cancelled all the board exams pertaining to the CBSE and ICSE boards, on account of the second wave of coronavirus. Several states in the country have also cancelled their board exams, but there’s one state that continues to be stubborn about conducting its board exams.
Andhra Pradesh Education Minister Adimulapu Suresh said that the Andhra Pradesh government is going to go ahead with conducting the board exams. He said that the AP government is planning to conduct their board exams from June 7th. He also said that they are confident that things will settle down by June 7th. He added that they will review the situation towards June 7th, and decided on whether to go ahead with the schedule or to postpone it, if the situation doesn’t get better.
Suresh said that it is not right to postpone the board exams, as that would affect the academic and professional career of all the students of the state. This very sentiment was first stated by Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy a few weeks ago when he said that he wants every student in the state to get proper education with a valid certificate that would improve their employment opportunities.
On the other hand, opposition parties are calling out the government’s decision, asking them if marks on a certificate are more important than children’s lives.
