The Andhra Pradesh government, led by the YSRCP, is trying everything it possibly can, to lure the people of Andhra Pradesh, ahead of the 2024 elections. With the elections less than two years away, and with the people losing their confidence in the YSRCP government, it seems to be taking to new paths, introducing new schemes to lure the people towards it once again.
A few weeks ago, the government announced that it would give all those who are eligible for ration, the option to choose between getting ration or cash in place of the ration. It has now announced that it would be giving the option to all the white card holders to either choose rice, or cash in place of it. The government previously spent a lot on procuring vehicles and manpower for the distribution of rice very recently, which is why the current announcement has come as a major shock for everyone. Given that the expenditure on vehicles would go to utter waste, and that the government is in a weak financial situation, everyone is wondering how the government would be able to pull off yet another cash scheme.
However, given that the government has recently increased taxes and electricity tariffs, it would be able to pull off this feat, no matter what the cost. Moreover, the government is also reportedly planning to take more loans, most of which are aimed toward implementing its Navaratnalu cash schemes, which have been the main reason for the bankruptcy of the state.
