The Andhra Pradesh High Court has given several shocks to the YSRCP government after it came to power. Now, the AP HC has given yet another shocker to the AP government, by suspending GO No. 35, issued by the AP government, with regards to the restrictions imposed on the exhibition and the film industry.
The AP government earlier took a rather strange decision, by announcing that film tickets would have to be bought online, via an online platform owned by the government, and by announcing that there would be no permissions given to any sort of extra, special or benefit shows. The government paid a deaf ear to the several requests made by several representatives of Tollywood and continued to go ahead with its decision.
Several theatre owners in the state filed petitions in the HC, and based on the petitions, the HC gave an order, suspending the government’s decision, stating that theatre owners can operate according to the old rules. The exhibition industry suffered greatly due to the coronavirus pandemic, and the decision taken by the AP government would have resulted in worse consequences.
