AP government’s failure results in highest cases in a single day

The state of Andhra Pradesh has been recording the highest number of cases over the past few days, and has even surpassed Maharashtra by recording the most number of cases in a single day, yesterday.

Today, yet again, Andhra Pradesh has recorded another set of highest number of cases, with a total of 10,093 people testing positive in the last 24 hours. The total number of cases has now reached 1,20,390. Additionally, a total of 1,213 people have died in the state. On the other hand, the number of active cases are 63,771, and the number of discharged/cured cases are 55,406.

The situation in Andhra Pradesh is getting more and more gruesome with the passage of days, with more and more people testing positive on a daily basis. Many believe that this is a result of the way the Jagan government has been handling the situation. In the beginning, Chief Minister Jagan Mohan Reddy dismissed Coronavirus as just another flu, and said that it could be cured by paracetamol and bleaching powder. This sent the wrong kind of message to the people of Andhra Pradesh, who started taking the virus too lightly. As a result, the activity of people on roads, gathered as crowds was very high, this paved the way for an increased spread of the virus.

On the other hand, the government also gave permission for 12,000 devotees to visit TTD everyday. This turned out to be a bad idea, for the entire state. Furthermore, the opening of alcohol stores in Andhra Pradesh contributed to more spreading in the state.

Even though the government of Andhra Pradesh is conducting extensive tests on a daily basis, the fact that it won’t help if the spread is not controlled, is very much evident. So far, it is crystal clear that the government has been taking repeated wrong steps, and that it has been failing and handling the crisis that coronavirus has brought upon the state, both financially and otherwise. The YSRCP government and CM Jagan should evaluate their methods of managing the situation, and realise that whatever they’ve been doing or not doing so far is in no way being helpful to anyone in the state.

If the government doesn’t take proper action right now, situations could soon get worse, and AP might overtake Maharashtra, becoming the most affected state in the country.
