Starring newcomers Vijay Ram and Shivshakti Sachdev in lead roles Amaram Akhilam Prema is available for streaming on Aha. Here is our review of the love drama.

Story:

Akhila(Shivshakti Sachdev) is a pampered girl who is unconditionally loved by her fater, Arun(Srikanth Iyengar). Against her father’s dream of seeing her as an IAS officer, Akhila picks up engineering stream. But all of a sudden, she wishes to undergo IAS training and leaves to Hyderabad. In the process, Akhila meets Amar(Vijay Ram) an aspiring musician and the latter develops feelings towards her. Can Amar win Akhila’s love? Why did Akhila decide to undergo IAS training out of the blue? The remaining plot answers these questions.

How about on-screen performances?

The film is backed by good performances of the lead cast. The lady lead Shivshakti is a good find as she emotes well and carries the emotion with ease. Srikanth Iyengar is a proven actor and he does well in the role of a loving father. Debutante, Vijay Ram gives a decent performance, but there is scope for improvement. His acting in emotional sequences could have been better. Naresh, Ravi Siva Teja, and Annapurnamma make brief appearances and they do what is expected of them.

What about off-screen talents?

The director does a clever job by picking a strong and experienced technical crew and that helps his cause. The film is technically sleek. Rasool Ellore’s cinematography is top notch as every fram looks artistic. Radhan’s music and background score complement the good work by the man behind the lens. Art work is very impressive as well.

The director, Jonathan Edwards picks a love story with decent premise. He does succeed jn extracting the best out of his lead cast but fails to narrate his story in a gripping manner. ‘Love is a never ending journey’ is the core point of the film and it is an intriguing one. But his narration falls flat. The screenplay is boring and lacks freshness.

What’s hot?

  • Father-daughter bonding
  • Shivshakti Sachdev’s performance
  • Rasool Ellore’s cinematography and Radhan’s music

What’s not?

  • Routine screenplay
  • Predictable narration
  • Lack of entertainment
  • Poorly written sequences between the lead pair
  • Run-time

Verdict:

Jonathan Edwards picked a simple storyline and tried to give it his own spin. He banks mainly on technical brilliance, cinematography, and music. But somewhere down the line, the soul of the film goes missing and despite good output from the technical team, the overall output does not give the desired movie-watching experience to the viewers. Poor screenplay and narrative are to be blamed here.

Watch or not: Those who crave for love dramas can give it a try.
