Air India flight hits electric pole at Vijayawada airport

A major tragedy was averted as an Air India Express flight, with around 64 passengers, lost control and met with an accident at the Vijayawada International Airport in Gannavaram, Andhra Pradesh today.

The Air India Express flight arrived from Doha at 4.50 pm and suffered a minor mishap while landing at the airport.

As per reports, of the 64 passengers in the flight, 19 were scheduled to de-board at Vijayawada. Following landing, the accident happened on the runway as the flight rammed into an electrical pole.

“All 64 passengers on board the flight and the crew are safe,” airport director G Madhusudan Rao was quoted as saying by news agency ANI.

Reports revealed that the right wing of the flight hit the high mask lights pole and the pole collapsed. The right wing got minor damage. No injuries or any major damage have been reported so far.
