Advisor Ajeya Kallam expresses rebuke over Nirmala Sitaraman’s statements

AP Government principal Advisor Ajeya Kallam expresses rebuke over the comments made by Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman on the electricity tariffs in Andhra Pradesh.

Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman earlier claimed that the Centre was providing power to the state at Rs 2.70 per unit. Rubbishing the claims, Andhra Pradesh principal advisor Ajeya Kallam said that the state was procuring power from the public sector units at a whopping rate of Rs 5.5 lakh per megawatt.

In response, the advisor stated that AP Industrial Valid tariff is actually Rs.7.65. After Fixing that price in Chandrababu Naidu’s reign in 2017, the YCP government had been continuing the same.

Ajeya proclaimed that the AP state had been paying Rs 1700 crore to the Centre every year as transmission charges and the state has always been in complementary to the rules fixed by centre.

“Andhra Pradesh has not been allocated coal mines so far after the bifurcation of the state and as a result, the AP government is forced to bear Rs 2,500 crore additionally year,” Ajaya stated.

The principal advisor said that the electricity charges are being bared by the current government due to the PPA’s and accumulated debts set by previous TDP government owing to their illegal practices. In 2014 the debt was 24,800 crores, which shot up to 70000 crores. Currently YSRCP government vows to eradicate corruption by enforcing reverse tendering and augment the governance at village level, he added.
