Deepika Singh Rajawat, the lawyer-activist based out of Jammu stealed the spotlight after fighting the case of Kathua rape and murder victim in Nov 2018.
Later Rajawat was suspended from the case in the trial court at Pathankot in Punjab based on an application moved by the father of the eight-year-old victim that she attended only twice in 100 hearings.
She became the centre of attention on social media lately. Following a controversial cartoon post on her Twitter handle on Monday night, few social media users lashed out demanding the arrest of Deepika.
‘Irony,’ captioned Deepika Rajawat to the pic shared, while depicting the cartoon featuring a man touching the feet of the deity during Navratri and the same man holding both the legs of a woman during the rest of the days. This was believed to be a mockery made on men by the advocate.
Soon hashtag #arrestdeepika erupted on Twitter and began trending since yesterday. Many users condemned asserting that she shouldn’t have made derogatory remarks on Hindu festivals and use it for social awareness. Hindutva bigots challenged her to post about other religions too and took a dig for hurting Hindu sentiments.
Soon hatred posts began featuring Deepika Padukone out of the blue. While few Twitteratis tried to clear the air saying, the hashtag is for lawyer Deepika but not Deepika Padukone.
