The Union Health Ministry reported on Tuesday that a digital health identity under the National Digital Health Mission (NDHM) will not be compulsory to get vaccine shots for covid -19.
Its known that the NDHM programme was declared by Prime Minister Narendra Modi during his Independence Day speech. As per the new rules set by the ambitious venture, everyone who enrolled for the mission will acquire a Health ID under NDHM whose personal records will be stored on community cloud infrastructure for easy access.
The NDHM in general, does not make a digital ID or health ID mandatory to receive service under the digital ecosystem that NDHM is creating. To say it would become mandatory for vaccination and those who do not have health ID’s would be deprived is probably not the right interpretation,” Union Health Secretary Rajesh Bhushan stated in a press meet.
He asserted, when beneficiaries do not have health IDs, other IDs could be furnished. He said that the process woikd be digitalised where multiple IDs are prescribed in advance so that no one is excluded from the benefits of covid vaccination.
