So far, the Andhra Pradesh government has only been known to step in the way of the High Court’s decisions, and has always tried to somehow go against the High Court’s orders.
However, something that the government has now done is surprising everyone. The AP government has filed an affidavit in the High Court, stating that some women are lying about the death of their husbands, so that they would get pensions under the Widow Pension scheme. It is being said that the Judge of the High Court was himself surprised when he looked at this affidavit.
Previously, the AP government had stopped many petitions because it was resulting in a lot of expenditure, and many people who were not receiving pensions because of this had approached the High Court about the matter. Back then, the High Court and the government filed and counter filed their versions of the case.
Now, with the AP government stating that some women are lying about the death of their husbands for the pension, the High Court has said that this would go against the culture of Indian Marital System. The High Court said that no Indian Woman would lie about the death of her husband just for the sake of receiving a pension. Furthermore, the High Court has ordered the AP government to start giving away these pensions to those who are eligible within the span of 15 days.
Several people have always been of the opinion that the current government run by the YSRCP divides people based on their caste and party, and only helps those who benefit them. This sentiment is growing all the more right now, with all political parties being of the same opinion, and several political members stating it as well.
