Covid-19 is evolving over time and several mutations were observed all over the world. Among all the mutations, D614G is considered to be the most infectious one. It seems that this mutation was first detected in Europe and it is said to be the most dominant one compared to all the Covid mutations.
When two mutations are in air, D614G dominates the other one in spreading to other person. This mutation is formed by the 614 Amino Acid’s change of position from D (Aspartic Acid) to G (Glycine). As many as 97% samples all round the world has a strain of this mutation, as per BCC report.
Research reports on this mutation says that this change is helping the protein spike of Corona Virus to stick better to the human cell while transmitting and hence this mutation is 10 times more infectious than the original one. Lets hope that the world comes back to normal and the Corona Virus soon rests in peace.
