Among all the Indian Staes that are being hit by the COVID-19, Gujarat exhibits the highest mortality rate. Now, the scientists tested the samples of the COVID-19 which was collected from the infected persons in that state and are suspecting that the typical “L-type” Corona strain is present in those samples.
The reports quote officials as saying the “L-type strain”, which was widespread in China’s Wuhan, the initial epicenter of the outbreak, is more prevalent in Gujarat, as opposed to the “S-strain”, which is claimed to be less virulent.
The same L-type Corona strain is the one that was found in Italy and hence the potency of the virus has been deadly in that country. This “L-type strain” exhibits different RNA properties when compared to the “S-type strain” even though they both belong to the same clade.
The L-type was considered “aggressive” due to its widespread prevalence, which by itself was affected by mobility restrictions and physical distancing measures. Hence the people in Gujarat are finding it very hard to recover from the novel Coronavirus attack when compared to the infected persons in the other states.
