The Davos World Economic Forum in Switzerland was the final blow to the global image of Andhra Pradesh. This year, AP has no representation. On the other hand, Telangana minister KTR received all the headlines. During the Naidu rule, AP was the premier state of India in Davos for five consecutive years. Naidu took great care to build AP’s image as a ‘Sunrise State’ with stability and business opportunities for international investors.
Even during the election year, when Naidu was busy, he sent his son Lokesh to represent him at the Davos meeting. But, in eight months, AP’s favorite image of investors has disappeared. It all started with the cancellation of the PPAs of solar companies. Global companies made it a big issue at national and international economic forums.
Later, the Lulas and Adanis agreements in Vizag canceled by Jagan Reddy Sarkar. Kia Motors’ management was troubled, and its goods industry moved to other states. Now, the cycle is complete. News spread that the so-called Sunrise AP had not even participated in the Davos Economic Forum.
The political situation is so suffocating that even AP trade and industry associations are not daring to raise the issue in government or some public debates.
