YSRCP government has approved a bill that is proposed to take action against culprits who resort to crimes against women. On the opening day of assembly meetings, Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy said that he was moved by Disha issue and then decided to come up with a serious act against the crimes.
As said, he introduced a bill today which punishes the culprits within 21 days of the incident. Jagan named the act as “AP Disha Act” in remembrance of Veterinary doctor Disha who was brutally gang raped and murdered by four people in Hyderabad.
The AP Cabinet amended the IPC section 354 and added a new clause 354-E to this section. The police will investigate the rape cases within a week and submit a detailed report to FasTrack court through the latest act. After conducting the trails in the second week and if the crime is proved, the culprits will then be awarded with the death sentence.

Apart from it, the new bill also punishes the culprits booked under other harassment cases too. For those who commit social media abuse for the first time will get two years jail and if repeated, the punishment will be increased to four years. Sexual assaults on minors will lead to 5 to 7 years of jail.
Disha incident has shaken the nation, but AP is the first state to come up with an act of this sort. Jagan is receiving applause from all the sides for the strict act considering it as the need of the hour.
