Vijay Deverakonda’s much-awaited action flick, Liger under the direction of Puri Jagannadh has hit the screens today. Let’s analyse it.
Story:
Set in Mumbai backdrop, Liger revolves around the story of underdog( Vijay Deverakonda) who big dreams to become MMA champion. But he faces biggest challenge with the stuttering problem. What kind of support will Liger gets from his mother( Ramya Krishnan) to reach the next level? His love track with Ananya Panday, forms the crucial crux.
On screen performances:
Vijay Deverakonda gave his best for the film and his body transformation is amazing . On the flipside, though his dialogue delivery with stuttering problem looks interesting initially turns boring as the movie progresses.
Coming to his dance movements, Vijay Deverakonda tried something which had never tried before but lack of flexibility in the body is clearly visible on screen. If he wants to establish himself as a commerical star hero, Vijay should definitely improve in the department.
Ramya Krishnan is okay in her mother role. She performed well in the loud character. Ananya Panday’s role has no significance in the movie.
Mike Tyson’s screen presence is good but his character lacks proper depth in it.
Vishnu Reddy is okay in his limited role. Rohit Roy as a boxing coach is decent. Other artists such as Getup Seenu are okay in their respective roles.
Off screen talents:
Director Puri Jagannadh’s basic idea of making a film on mother sentiment and incorporating action part in it is good but completely dilutes the proceedings with his routine template writing.
The cinematography work by Vishnu Sharma is alright as he tried to showcase the entire film on a colourful note. Editing work by Junaid Siddiqui fails to leave an impression.
While the background score composed by Sunil Kashyap elevates a couple of scenes, the songs composed by multiple musicians come as a speed breaker for the movie.

Verdict:
In an overview, Liger has scope to explore in a better way but is literally spoiled with Soul less writing and rushed proceedings. Though Vijay Deverakonda did his part good, lack of soul comes as a major demerit for the movie.

Final Report: Liger fells flat in the second half. Vijay’s stuttering dialogues feels a bit over. MMA ring scenes are okay. Mike Tyson role is not justified. Puri should have done a better job with this Pan India movie, wasted opportunity.

First Half Report: First half of the movie is an average watch. It does not have much story, couple of good action sequences and Ramya Krishna’s performance is good. Vijay’s screen presence is good. Vijay’s stuttering seems interesting in the beginning and gets boring as movie progresses. Second half needs to be really big to make this a good watch
